Make your way to Red Lodge, MT from Interstate 90 via US Route 212.
Ride through Montana's beautiful ranch land and stop for lunch or just a walk down the streets of the historic Red Lodge, a town that was settled in the late 1800's. This is the start of an extordinary 68-mile stretch of road that begins with a series of switchbacks, then climbs through glacier-gouged canyon, past icy blue lakes to the crest at an elevation of 10,947 feet above sea level. You will pass through Cooke City, MT, one of the last real towns where you can experience life as miners of past era's did. Then, drop down into beautiful Yellowstone National Park. This highway is considered one of the two top scenic routes in the United States.
Glacier Park lies in the Northern border of Montana and Canada. Getting to Glacier can be as enjoyable as the park itself, with the wonderful senery, no matter your route. Once at the park, the famous "Going-to-the-Sun Road" provides some of the most breath taking views in the world. Wildlife abounds, and the park offers hikes for both the experienced and the less adventuresome.
